The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. On Friday, he offered condolences to family, friends and associates in the wake of the passing of Mustapha Balogun, former Inspector General of Police.
He also grieved with the Nigeria Police Force. Balogun said that he spent most of his life there.
Buhari’s condolence messages are contained in a statement signed on his behalf by Femi Adesina (special adviser on media and publicity), titled “President Buhari mourns former IGP Tafa Balogun.”
Adesina stated, “The President remembers that Tafa Balogun, his tenure as IGP, did everything possible to ensure that the police carried out its legal responsibilities under a democratic dispensation. His penchant for encouraging morale among officers and men has been recognized by all who served under him.
“President Buhari’s thoughts and prayers are with the Osun State government, its people, and their families, as well as former colleagues and colleagues of the deceased chief of police.”
Therefore, he prayed for the repose and peace of the soul of his departed.
